Welcome to our series, “Hate Male of the Weak,” where we turn comments meant to troll us into teachable moments – breaking down the male insecurity behind the hateful things men say to women online.

This week features rage bait from a recent post where we explained that the Senate was pushing to “defund Planned Parenthood” through the Big Bullshit Bill, showcasing exactly how little the “pro-life” truly understand what Planned Parenthood does and how federal policy works.

Mark is upset because he *thinks* his tax dollars pay for abortions through Medicaid reimbursements to Planned Parenthood. He thinks your uterus is a personal financial burden on him and he wants none of it. Apparently, Mark also *thinks* that abortion is the majority of Planned Parenthood’s services; this is why he cares so much about defunding it, of course. Mark is wrong.

The Hyde Amendment bars federal funding for abortion except in life-threatening circumstances. No one’s tax dollars fund abortion and by perpetuating this lie, Mark is also telling us he also has no clue what Planned Parenthood actually does. If he did, he would know that his comment is, in fact, a standard conservative talking point meant to position abortion as the sole service that Planned Parenthood provides. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Let’s help Mark out.

According to the 2023-2024 Annual PP Report:

54% of its services was STI/STD testing and treatment;
25% was contraception; and
4% were abortions.

If Mark spent less time glued to Newsmax and more time on Google, he might know that. If he did a single millisecond of research, he might also have learned that Medicaid reimbursements to Planned Parenthood fund mammograms, pap smears, and prenatal care. I mean, how dare Planned Parenthood prevent cancer, right Mark?

The other thing about men like Mark is that they have no issues with their tax dollars covering men’s sexual health. When was the last time you heard someone complain that Medicaid covers vasectomies (which Planned Parenthood also provides), or viagra, or prostate cancer screenings? Not a word when it comes to men’s health, but they lose their minds when women are offered the care they deserve. Because, say it with us, it’s never really about protecting life; it’s about policing women.

Mark, we get why your boxers are in a bunch; your hard-earned money already gives tax breaks for billionaires, oil subsidies, and extremely bloated defense budgets. Your tax dollars also bankroll Trump’s golf trips. Heaven forbid a woman gets a pap smear or birth control on your dime! That would just be ludicrous.
